In one of their favorite class activities,
students use a dichotomous key to classify eight different types of potato
chips. In doing so, they develop their own
classification criteria and actual keys, munching their way to learning.
It appears that the taste test is one of the
first that are performed, followed by appearance comparisons,
ingredient comparisons and type of processing.
Each team has a method to keep the chips identified.
